Birthday and Graduation all in one

I had the honor to make cookies to celebrate an 18th birthday along with the graduation of a friend's son.  I wanted to have the birthday cookies in a similar hue as the graduation cookies. The colors are a bit darker than the picture. My friend had requested stars in reds and blues with 18 on them for the birthday. I do not own a graduation cap cookie cutter.  I can not find them in my area and I just can not justify buying one online and paying the shipping.  I will keep my eye out for one. So I searched the web and found some inspiration.  They all were a big hit and were gone well before the party was over. The biggest lesson I learned making these was to use the dark frosting to make the dots first and let them dry and then the light color.  I did it backwards and the dark maroon bled a little onto the light grey dots.

Gonzo Cookies

My son loves to take the 'extra' cookies in his school lunches. He is in high school and yes, he takes a lunch everyday, usually two.  There are days when someone takes his cookie or requests a bite.  Needless to say I usually end up sending an extra one or two. He tends to get requests from friends as to what I should make. This time his friend wanted a Gonzo cookie.  So I tried and here it is. They turned out more cartoonie (if that is a word) than I had hoped but I learned a lot on creating a character.

The Pink Panthers

I coached my last season of volleyball for the YMCA.  I have had a few of these girls for multiple seasons.  This season we were given dark pink shirts.  The girls named themselves the Pink Panthers but their slogan was Bazinga.  It was a fun season with lots of laughs.  To celebrate the end of the season, I made them Pink Panther  cookies and Bazinga cookies.

The First!

Finally.  My first blog.  I really was thinking that technology was getting the best of me.  Hopefully it will be easier as time passes.

I made 5 dozen WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) for my daughter's school.
Also requested were 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies.  Whew.
